Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about setting up and using your private vault. Can't find an answer? Contact support.

How do I set up my vault for the first time?+

Open the app - it looks like a calculator. Enter a PIN of at least 4 digits and press the % button. Confirm the PIN by entering it again and pressing % once more. You will be taken to your private vault.

How do I unlock the vault?+

On the calculator screen, type your PIN and press the % button. You can also switch to Pattern Lock or Face ID / Touch ID in Settings > Lock Type.

I forgot my PIN. How do I recover access?+

If you set up a Security Question (Settings > Security Question), you can reset your PIN from any lock screen by tapping "Forgot PIN?", or by typing 0101 and pressing % on the calculator screen.

How do I import photos and videos?+

Open Photos or Videos from the vault home screen, tap the + button, and select items from your Photo Library. They are copied securely into the vault and can be organized into albums.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?+

No. All vault data - photos, videos, notes, contacts, passwords, and files - is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

What are Break-in Alerts?+

When someone enters the wrong PIN 3 or more times, the app takes a photo using the front camera. You can review these photos in Settings > Break-in Alerts. This feature requires camera permission and is optional.

How do I stop screenshots of my vault?+

Enable Prevent Screenshot in Settings. This blocks screenshots and screen recordings while your vault is open.

Can I change the app icon?+

Yes. Go to Settings > App Icon and choose from 9 calculator-style icons: Default, Classic, Stealth, Ocean, Midnight, Cobalt, Playful, Light, and Retro. All of them keep the calculator style.

Does the app have a private browser?+

Yes. Open Browser from the vault home screen. It includes a 3-layer ad blocker, saves no history outside the vault, and can download files directly into your vault.

I updated from the old version. Where is my data?+

Your photos, notes, contacts, and passwords from the previous version are imported automatically on first launch. If the migration looks incomplete, go to Settings and re-run it, or contact support.

The app was using a lot of storage. Is that fixed?+

Yes. Version 2.3 fixes a bug where duplicate files could accumulate after upgrading from the old version. Open the app once after updating and the space is reclaimed automatically.

How do I delete the app without losing my data?+

Deleting the app permanently deletes everything stored in the vault. Before deleting, export anything you want to keep (for example, save photos back to your Photo Library or use Wireless Transfer to copy files to another device).
